HAVDALAH (Hevdeilim) (© l987 Rabbi Leila Gal Berner)
(Can be sung in both Hebrew and English)
Yesh beynaynu hevdelim We are different from one another
Bayn ha-ish v’ha-isha Woman is different from Man
Yesh ba-teva hevdelim Humans and animals are different too
Bayn enosh v’ha-chaya All in Nature's wondrous plan
Bayn ha-yom v'ha-laila Day and Night,
Bayn orah l'chashaycha Darkness and Light
The rays of Moon and of Sun
N'kadesh et ha-hevdelim We call holy all of these
V'chol echad li-vracha A blessing is each and every one.

Yesh ba-olam hevdelim We are different from one another
Bayn Yisrael v'ha-amim Israel and the nations aren't the same
Ulshonotaynu hen shonot And our Speech comes from
different mothers
Ach kulanu ma'aminim But in Faith, we pray that Peace may reign
Bayn ha-shabbat vi-y'may chol We cherish Shabbat and the days of
our week
Bayn menucha la-avodah We value both labor and rest
N'kadesh et ha-hevdelim We call holy all of these
V'chol echad li-vracha And each and every one is blessed.
